Be a Donor!

Lisa Fisk, Ed.S, CCC-SLP

Could you have used some financial support while you were in graduate school?  Now there is help for students currently in school, the Michigan Speech and Hearing Association Foundation.  We provide scholarship grants to deserving students in Michigan.  But we can’t share money unless we make money.  Here’s where you come in.  Our largest fund-raising event is the auction that we hold at the MSHA Conference each spring. Please consider being a donor.  We are looking for a wide range of items and services for our members to bid on.  Do you have an item or collectable that would be of interest to someone?  How about tickets to an event?  Could you put together a basket of goodies for a particular interest like cooking or gardening?  Maybe you have a great salon or service provider willing to donate a gift certificate to share.  The only limit is your imagination.

Please email Lisa.fisk@msha-foundation.org for a donation form.  Thank you from all of the students that we can help. The world needs more great speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Happy New Year MSHA Members!

It is my desire that 2024 inspires you to be innovative and bring new ideas to life in your professional career as we continue to support individuals with communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan.

The MSHA Executive Board has been busy over the past few months working to bring innovations to the membership so that you are able to benefit from being a member of MSHA. Please continue to be patient with us as we continue to navigate bringing programming innovations to you.  In the meantime, MSHA would love to hear about the innovations that you are implementing.  Please share your innovations on our social media platforms so we can celebrate with you.

The year 2024 will also be a year of transition for MSHA.  Our beloved office administrator, Kim Wesoloski will be retiring effective June 1, 2024.  Kim has served our association for 30 years and has a wealth of knowledge regarding the professional trends in the state of Michigan.  While we are sad to see her transition into retirement, we are truly happy for her.  With Kim’s upcoming retirement, the MSHA Executive Board was tasked with looking into alternative options to keep the affairs of MSHA running.  After reviewing proposals for management companies, we have narrowed our choice to Hude Associates, a Lansing Association Management Company, who effective January 1, 2024 transitioned to Dykema Gossett PLLC.  Members of the MSHA Board have had the opportunity to meet with Katherine Hude and her business partner, and will plan to vote to transition to Dykema in February/March 2024 to initiate our transition prior to Kim’s retirement.  Our transition to an association management company affects not only the day to day operations of MSHA, but how you will interact with MSHA moving forward.  We welcome your questions or comments as we prepare for the transition.  Please forward your questions or comments to the MSHA office no later than Tuesday, February 6, 2024 so that the MSHA Executive Board and Dykema can provide an appropriate response.

Thank you for your continued support of MSHA and I am looking forward to seeing you in Muskegon, Michigan for the MSHA Annual Conference in April.

Best Regards,

Rosalyn Davis, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
