MSHA MEMBERSHIP MSHA Membership Directory To access the directory just click on the Membership Directory link below (you must be a current member). You will be asked for a username which will be your last name and password which is your receipt number prefixed with a 03*. For example: Username: jones (or if hyphenated jones-smith) Password: 03-1234 * *If you are a new member in 2008 your password will be prefixed with 08 e.g. 08-1234. If you were a new member in 2007 your number will be prefixed with 07. If you are a renewing member without a lapse in membership your password will be prefixed with 03. MSHA Membership Dues Renewal Last Notice to Renew MSHA Membership for 2008 Please check the mailing label on your most recent MSHA newsletter. If you have an 07 after your name, please accept this as your Final Reminder that you have not paid your 2008 MSHA dues. If you have an 08 after your name, thank you! Remember, you can pay your MSHA dues online whether you are a continuing MSHA member, or a first-time MSHA member. If you need any forms or wish to invite a colleague to join MSHA, just contact the MSHA office or go to our website at www.michiganspeechhearing.org Thank you! MSHA was formed in 1939 with 52
members. Today, this
membership has grown to well over 1,400 members who work as
speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and teachers of the hearing
impaired in a variety of work settings in every part of Michigan. Here are some of Gordon's recent articles from the MSHA newsletter et cetera....Enjoy! Types of Membership Note: You must apply at the highest level that you are eligible. Active
Membership is available to those holding: · The
equivalence of a Master's degree or greater, with major emphasis in speech-language
pathology, audiology, or the speech and hearing sciences, or · The
equivalence of a Master's degree or greater, and present evidence of active research,
interest, and performance in the field of human communication. Associate
Membership is available to those holding Bachelor’s degrees in the speech,
language, or hearing fields, or in education of the hearing impaired. Affiliate
Membership is an option available to those interested in affiliating with the
Association, or who may be currently unemployed in the speech and hearing
professions. Advocate Membership is for those persons NOT in the speech/language/hearing profession or allied fields. Parents or caregivers and adult consumers that have an interest in the goals of MSHA as it serves the needs of persons with communication impairments are eligible. The annual fee is $15. Life Membership is granted to those members who have retired from the profession after a minimum of 10 years of professional service and who have held active membership for a minimum of 10 years. Candidates may be proposed by any member of MSHA or self proposed. Waiver of dues will be made for this membership category and voting privileges are maintained. Student
Membership is available to full time students in speech, language, and hearing

sponsors Continuing Education opportunities to members at our MSHA annual
conference and through other scheduled professional
programs, such as the recent co-sponsorship of the Audiology Conference -
MAC on the M.A.C. - in East Lansing in September.
The annual conference, for which reduced rates are offered to
members, features courses, workshops, and poster sessions by local and
nationally recognized experts in speech-language pathology and audiology.
It is an excellent forum for information exchange and professional
networking. The Association has established the MSHA
Library on Hearing Impairment, which
continues to grow and serve its members.
On a biennial basis, MSHA offers a CCC
Exam Review for students and professionals with a reduced fee for MSHA
members. MSHA
also has a Membership Directory
available for its members, and publishes the quarterly newsletter, et cetera. Additionally,
members benefit from joining the MSHA
Listserv, an internet forum open only to MSHA
members for discussion of professional issues and concerns both within the
state of Michigan and nationally. Other membership benefits include an employment information service, employs a lobbyist, provides updates on legislative issues, and networking opportunities that link members to related professional organizations in Michigan and the United States.
